PEZZAGNO Michele

Michele Pezzagno, architect and PhD in Urban and regional Planning, is a Full Professor of Urban and Landscape Planning at the Univeristà degli Studi di Brescia. Where she is the Scientific Director of the University Research and Documentation Centre for the Sustainable Development Agenda (CRA2030) and of the City-Friendly and Mobility Safety Research Centre (CeSCAM). She also serves as Co-Chair of Sustainable Development Solutions Network Italia (SDSN Italia), the Italian chapter of the global UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
During her academic career, she has participated as a partner in numerous European and national research projects focusing on urban and territorial planning, with particular attention to the relationships between urban planning, public space quality and sustainable mobility, as well as to the effects of urban policies on safety and accessibility in urban spaces.
In recent years, her research interests have increasingly focused on sustainable development and urban resilience, with specific reference to the integration of the Agenda 2030 goals into urban and territorial policies. She is currently the coordinator of the project “Integrated Vision for Territory and the 2030 Agenda” (VITA), funded by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security.
She is the author of more than 130 publications, including articles in scientific journals, book chapters and monographs. Her scientific work combines theoretical and applied approaches, with the aim of developing tools and methodologies for integrated and inclusive territorial planning, with particular attention to the quality of urban spaces and the sustainability of territories.
She teaches Urban Planning in the Master’s degree programme in Building Engineering–Architecture and Ethics of Environmental Sustainability in the Bachelor’s degree programme in Environmental and Land Engineering. She is also a member of the PhD board of the National PhD Programme in Sustainable Development and Climate Change, where she coordinates the curriculum “Technologies and Territory.”
