Gruppo 05/BIOS-10 - BIOLOGIA CELLULARE E APPLICATA

Settore BIOS-10/A - Biologia cellulare e applicata
I’m Full Professor of Cellular and Applied Biology at the Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine, Brescia University. I work in the field of Neurobiology with a particular interest in RNA biology. I’m one of the few Italian experts of “RNA editing”, a particular post transcriptional regulation that leads to modification of the information that is encoded in the DNA, thus increasing gene expression complexity. My research interests focus on: 1) revealing the correlations among RNA editing dysregulation, neurological disorders and their pharmacological medications; 2) uncovering the molecular correlations among post-transcriptional mechanism such as RNA editing, RNA splicing and RNA trafficking; 3) studying the biological and molecular mechanisms regulating the activity of the glutamatergic system.
