Alessandra Flammini (Brescia, 1960) graduated with honors in Physics at the University of Rome in 1985. From 1985 to 1992 she was employed in Ansaldo Industria, Milano, and in 1990 she became the manager of the Digital Controls Unit. Researcher in Electronics since 1995, in 2002 she became an Associate Professor of Electronic Measurements at the University of Brescia, where she is a Full Professor since 2016. Since 2002 she is the responsible of the Electronics Laboratory and since 2004 she has realized a PROFIBUS and PROFINET laboratory that is a national Competence Centre of PNI (Profibus Network Italia). The research activity mainly deals with electronic instrumentation, digital processing of sensor signals and sensor networks. Since 2000, the research activity moved towards fieldbuses, Real Time Ethernet, wireless sensor networks, Software Defined Radio, smart grids and smart meters, wearable sensors. A particular attention is given to real time applications in industrial environment together with synchronization methods among nodes, where she has been the responsible of Brescia unit in 2 PRIN projects (2005, 2008). Some papers she co-authored have been awarded (ETFA 2008, ISPCS2010). General Co-Chair of several international IEEE conferences, she has been elected (2013-2016) in the AdCom of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society. Since 2014 she has been responsible at University or Department level for many Smart City projects (smart grids, water management, lifestyles, sustainable mobility, PNRR-MOST-Spoke5). She is in charge of the eLUX laboratory on smart grids and smart living. Since 2019 she is the chairman of the council of the aggregate study program. From 2020 to 2022 she coordinated the PhD in Technology for Health. She is the author of more than 350 international publications, including journals, patents and conference proceedings. She is in the Top Italian Scientists list (2019-now), in 100esperte (2022-now) and is an IEEE Fellow (2024).
