Curriculum Vitae
Ivano Alessandri is Full Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Brescia (Italy). He is currently the team leader of Sustainable Chemistry and Materials group at the same University (https://suschemat.unibs.it).
His research activity includes the synthesis and characterization of smart, sustainable materials for energy conversion, catalysis and advanced diagnostics. In particular, he has gained expertise in optical nanoantennas, nanoresonators/concentrators and local electromagnetic field amplifiers, which can be applied to the fields of vibrational spectroscopies (Raman and IR) and photocatalysis.
He is the author of about 100 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed international journals, three book chapters, three patents (2 national and 1 European) and several contributions to international meetings.
Since 2005 he has been participating to >20 Regional, National, European and International projects (5 as PI/coordinator).
In 2007 he was awarded with the first prize in a competition promoted by AIB for the best young innovators. In 2014 he received the NEST award (special mention) for the best Italian scientific work of the year on Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies.
Since 2019 he has been coordinating the activities of the Italian Group of Vibrational (Raman and Infrared) Spectroscopy.
He regularly serves as referee for various scientific journals of different editorial groups, including Nature, American Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, Elsevier, IOP, MDPI etc. and has been in the panel of reviewers of several national (MUR) and international projects.
Since 2011 he has been a lecturer in various basic and advanced chemistry courses at the University of Brescia. He is currently an accredited user at the Molecular Foundry (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley-USA) and at the Center of Nanophase Materials Science of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA).
