GROSSI Giovanna

She is Associate Professor in Hydraulic Structures at the University of Brescia (DICATAM) since March 2015 (Assistant Professor since 2001), focusing her research and teaching activity in the fields of Hydrology and Hydraulic Structures.
Her research activity at DICATAM (Dept. of Civil, Environmental, Architectural Engineering and Mathematics) has been mainly focused on alpine hydrology, as well as on the management of stormwater in drainage systems. She was the chief of the Local Research Unit of a national research project (PRIN 2006), the title of which was “An integrated system aimed at the prediction of flood discharges including the estimate of its uncertainty”.

- She worked (2003-06) with ISAC-CNR (Dr. Buzzi) and ECMWF (Dr. Buizza) on a research project aimed at the simulation of the 1966 Arno flood event through coupling of meteorological and hydrological models.
- She was member (2004-06) of a working group coordinated by prof. Bacchi on ‘Stormwater control in drainage systems’.
- She participated (2007) to the dimonstrative phase of the international Mesoscale Alpine Project(MAP D-Phase), during which she provided real time flood forecasts in the Taro river (Emilia Romagna region) and in the Toce river (Piemonte region), using deterministic and ensemble meteorological predictions.
- She collaborated (2007-08) with prof. Bacchi on "Feasibility study for the environmental and hydraulic restoration of the Franciacorta region. Action guidelines”
- She is the coordinator of a 24 months research project entitled 'Analysis of sediment yield in the Guerna river watershed (BG), funded by Regione Lombardia (Funds for the mountain area 2009)
- Since 2010 she is member of the Italian Glaciological Committee.
- Together with the research unit coordinated by prof. Ranzi she is working at an EU funded cooperation research project named Kulturisk and aimed at the diffusion of a 'culture of risk' of river flood event.
