Curriculum Vitae
Fausto Minelli
Full Professor
Department of Civil, Environmental, Architectural Engineering and Mathematics (DICATAM)
University of Brescia, Italy
Research Areas
Professor Fausto Minelli focuses his scientific activity on the behaviour and structural modelling of concrete structures, with particular emphasis on:
reinforced and high-performance concrete;
fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC);
nonlinear modelling of reinforced concrete structures;
strengthening and rehabilitation techniques for existing buildings, including masonry structures and prestressed reinforced concrete bridge girders;
advanced assessment and strengthening strategies for existing bridges and critical structural components.
His research aims at a comprehensive understanding of the structural response by combining theoretical and experimental approaches. The goal is to identify the fundamental parameters governing the global behaviour of structures and to validate advanced numerical models.
Main Research Topics
Mechanical characterization of fibre-reinforced and high-performance cementitious materials;
Shear behaviour of reinforced and prestressed concrete beams without conventional transverse reinforcement, including corroded members;
Cracking and deformability of fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC) structures;
Structural applications of fibre-reinforced concrete;
Strengthening and rehabilitation of existing masonry and reinforced concrete structures;
Structural performance of corroded reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge girders, under natural and induced corrosion conditions.
Scientific and Teaching Activity
Author of over 150 scientific publications, more than 110 of which published in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings.
Winner of the “Best Student Paper – Structures Category” at the ConMat ’05 International Conference, Vancouver, Canada, August 22–24, 2005.
Supervisor of approximately 180 Master’s theses and co-supervisor of about 90 Master’s theses, some conducted in collaboration with European universities.
Co-lecturer of the course Structural Engineering and Laboratory (12 ECTS) – Single-cycle Master’s Degree in Building Engineering(4th year).
Lecturer of the Course Theory and Design of Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Structures (12 ECTS) – Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Single-cycle Master’s in Building Engineering (5th year).
Lecturer of the Course Design and Rehabilitation of Bridges (9 ECTS) – Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (5th year).
