Aging is characterized by a progressive deterioration of physiological functions and metabolic processes. In aging and in diseases associated with the elderly, the loss of cells in vital structures or organs may be related to several factors, among them oxidative stress has a key role. The research group is focused on analyzing the morphological alterations and pathways underlying the physiological aging process and in relation to different diseases. The goal is to find new therapeutic strategies in order to slow down the process of cellular and organ senescence.
