Research activity
Broad area: computational fluid dynamics in turbomachinery, with contributions in the development of numerical methods for compressible viscous turbulent flows and in their application to turbomachinery. Main research fields:
1) Unstrucutred anysotropic hybrid grid generation; 2) High order accurate discontinuous finite elements for viscous turbulent flows; 3) High order accurate flow simulation in turbomachinery; 4) Finite elements/Finite volumes for flows of pure fluids and fluid mixtures with complex thermodynamics and transport property models. 5) Dense gas flows in ORC turbines.
Grants and funded research projects
1) Collaborator: series of research contracts between private companies (ENEL, Electrolux Compressors) and University;
2) Scientific coordinator for the University of Brescia: research contracts with private companies (Alenia Aeronautica, Franco Tosi); three PRIN projects; ADIGMA european project
