Curriculum Vitae
2022 President of the Center of Research and TT LIGHT scarl
2016-2022 Deputy Rector for research
2016- Full Professor of Pharmacology, University of Brescia
RESEARCH ACTIVITY
She directs a laboratory of neurobiology and neuropharmacology applied to the study of the transcriptional mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, primarily Parkinson's disease, cerebral ischemia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The research group studies the mechanisms that, associated with the NF-kappaB pathway, regulate neuronal vulnerability, axonal regeneration and synaptic plasticity in the central nervous system together with protein pathology and neuroinflammation.
From 2010 to 2016 he collaborated with the Fondazione Ospedale San Camillo IRCCS of Venice on research projects in the field of neuropharmacology in neurorehabilitation.
RECENT GRANTS
1. MS - Ricerca Finalizzata RF-2010-2315142 (2012-2016) Coordinator M Pizzi “Development of brain targeted epigenetic drugs for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders and brain ischemia”.
2. FP7-MSCA- ITN 2013 N. 607962 (2013-2017) “European Consortium nEUROinflammation”, PI M Pizzi “Polarization of microglia in neurodegenerative diseases”
