EXPLORING NEW ROLES OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE KINASE LRRK2 IN GLIAL CELLS
Our research group is interested in studying the molecular mechanisms underlying the early events of neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease with a particular interest in the dysfunctions of the glia biology. The main goal of this project is to identify new roles of the LRRK2 protein in glial cells and to explore their impact on neuronal functions. Pathological mutations in the LRRK2 gene are the most common cause of familial Parkinson's cases.
