PEDRAZZANI Roberta

Degree in Biology (1993) at University of Pavia, with a thesis about activated sludge wastewater treatment plants. Scholarship from Fondazione Lombardia per l'Ambiente (at University of Pavia) and from Federchimica (at University of Brescia) for studying non-conventional processes for nitrogen removal from wastewater, treatments of potabilization and wastewater disinfection, wastewater reuse in agriculture.
In cooperation with Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of University of Trento and DISTAM of University of Milan, she studied monitoring techniques of biomass activity of activated sludge treatment plants. She carried out researches on lead release from brass taps, within an European Community Project.
She is studying, since 1998, in cooperation with Technische Universität of Clausthal and Technische Universität of Berlin advanced oxidation processes(AOPs)of industrial wastewater. Within these cooperations, she acquired knowledge in chemical instrumental analyses and microbiological analyses.
She is assistant professor, since 2001, in Chemistry of Technology at Faculty of Engineering Facoltà of University of Brescia. Her research focussed then on sol-gel processes for toxic wastes immobilization/solidification and for the realization of materials for environmental applications.
She studied (2003-2007) damaging phenomena (caused especially by biodeteriogens)of stone materials in cultural heritage, in cooperation with Institute for Conservation and Valorization of Cultural Heritage of National Research Council, "Gino Bozza" of Milan, DISTAM of University of Milan and Synchrotron Radiation Department, Daresbury Laboratory. Besides, within this research, she has applied FTIR spectroscopy and X-ray-microfluorescence techniques so as to investigate different aspects of atmospheric pollution. She participated to a CRAFT project (Innovative Wastewater Treatment Applications for Isolated Location, years 2005-2006), coordinated by TTZ (Technologie Transfer Zentrum) of Bremerhaven, aimed at testing a MBR pilote plant for the treatment of wastewater from isolated locations. She was responsible for local unit of Brescia within PRIN 2004 (project:“Evaluation of effects of laser Cleaning/Ablation treatment on materials of interest in cultural heritage”, scientific cordinator Prof. Luciano Rosario Maria Vicari (University Federico II, Napoli), local unit project: “Chemical and physical investigations of manufacts after Laser Cleaning/Ablation treatments”.
Since 2004 until now, she is studying detection and removal (by means of chemical oxidation processes) of endocrine compounds (EDCs) and other PPCPs (Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products) from environmental matrices, in cooperation with Technische Universitaet of Berlin (Vigoni project 2007-2009). Her teaching activity involves the following topics: Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry, for students attending at different degrees within Engineering (since 2001) and Medicine (since 2002) Faculty of University of Brescia. She is tutor/co-tutor of more than 100 degree theses and 4 post degree scholarships. Member of the board of Environmental Nanotechnology, Monitoring and Management (Elsevier journal). Referee for several international scientific journals. 95 manuscripts: in peer review journals (32), proceedings of International Conferences, book chapters, proceedings of Italian Conferences. Since 2012, permanent member (as a specialist) of Commission for accreditation of Microfauna analysis of activated sludge (IRSA Q64/1983; UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2005; UNI EN ISO 9001: 2008). Since 2014, Member of board of directors of Mistral - (University Research Center: Integrated Models for Prevention and Protection in Environmental and Occupational Health), University of Brescia.
