Curriculum Vitae

EDUCATION AND POSITIONS

He graduated in Electronics Engineering in 1996 at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". He has been visiting scholar at the Computer Science Department of the University of Sheffield in year 1998. In 1998 he attended the European Summer School in Logic, Language and Information at Saarbrucken, Germany.
In 2001 he took his Ph.D in "Computer Science and Control Engineering" at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata".
Research fellow at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2003 and 2004.
Since 2005, he is Assistant Professor in Information Technology Engineering at the University of Brescia.

TEACHING ACTIVITY

He has been teaching assistant in the courses of Data Base Management systems and Artificial Intelligence at the Engineering faculty of Rome Tor vergata.
He teached several undergraduated courses, in particular Fundamentals of Computer Science I and II in the Engineering faculties of both Rome Tor Vergata and Brescia universities, and Basics of Computer Science at the faculty of Economics in Brescia.
Currently he teaches the courses of Network Security, Communication Networks, and Information Systems at the Faculty of Economics in Brescia.

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

Main areas of scientific activity are in the field of design of intelligent information management systems, machine learning and natural language processing. Researchg interests mainly involve Artificial Intelligence methodologies and techniques applied to Information Extraction from large texts, intelligent agents for information retrieval and filtering and the Semantic Web.

Research activity has been carried out jointly with several colleagues from italian Universities of Rome, Turin, Venice and Ancona as well as in strict cooperation with several research groups, at the Universities of Edimburg, Sheffield, Athens and Paris VII, inside both national and EU founded research projects.


OTHER SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES

He has participated in several national and international conferences as speaker, and is reviewer for the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence.
