Lessons from the Past. Land Warfare and Cultural Heritage in Second World War Italy: The Role of the MFAA

This paper examines the Allied Army's programme to limit war damage to Italy's cultural heritage during the Second World War, and reflects on its effectiveness and limitations. It analyses the most common risks and the ways in which they were prevented, with a view to providing insights that may inform the implementation of strategies to protect cultural heritage threatened by contemporary conflicts.
