Abstract:
Risk reduction in historic centres, including smaller ones, which are more exposed to seismic hazards, becomes a necessary condition for the protection of life and cultural heritage. At the current state of knowledge and technology, it is only possible to intervene on sensitive mitigation of vulnerability through the securing of urban systems, both the built-up areas and open spaces. This contribution illustrates an integrated methodology in support of the Reconstruction Plan of the Municipality of Navelli (AQ), drawn up in response to the 2009 earthquake. This methodology includes both an integrated assessment of damage to the built heritage and an innovative vulnerability assessment of public space. The objective is to critically reflect, approximately 10 years later, on the results that this methodology has brought in the structuring phases of the plan and on how it has influenced the administration's choices and modes of action in the implementation phases still underway.
