Cryptography began at least 2000 years ago playing an important role ever since. Much of our society relies on cryptography to provide security services, including confidentiality and integrity, hence it is widely employed by financial organizations, governments and military organisations. Secure military communications, in particular, are unquestionably important as failures may indeed affect critical military operations (command, control, etc.) with a concomitant unexpected outcome of a mission…or even of a conflict.
