Abstract:
The Authors examine the aspects that regard informed consent considering above all the oftalmology field.
In fact, besides the indisputable and well consolidated requirements necessary to consider valid the consent, in this field the problem about the information that must be
given to the patient, that has the pertain to the indication on surgical operations, the details of its execution and the perspective results, let alone the complications that operations may determine, results particularly delicate.
It seems however that the alternaúves in merit of the therapy to apply should be kept in particular consideration keeping in mind the estimate of the possible risks and expected benefits also relating to what the patient is waiting for.
A further problem that needs to be thoroughly examined regards the written forms offered which in the majority of cases presents a linguistic format too technical and incomprehensible to the patient
