Abstract:
This contribution aims to analyse the influence of the Cold War Atmosphere on the works of the Italian architects who designed and built between the 1940s and 1980s. It consists of a collection of observations from their thinking and writings. From their search of the Truth of Architecture, we can learn very much, even observing their efforts to explore the boundaries of the architectural and urban process, and their tenacity in turning a painful story into a creative opportunity.
In the complex cultural atmosphere of the Cold War, the very different thoughts of these three Italian architects are united by a fil rouge, characterized by three unsuspected components.
We can learn from their efforts and their tenacity to explore the boundaries of the architectural and urban process, to live them beyond their unknown thresholds, bringing with them a story still painful but lived as a creative opportunity: the possibility to overcome their own limits.
