Contenuti

What is a firm? What is its purpose? What is the role of business in society and the economy? How is it possible to run a company? What are its measurable goals and targets? What is a strategy and how can it be developed and implemented in order to address the challenges posed by a turbulent environment? What are the key business functions, what are their peculiar features, and how can they work together to reach shared corporate goals? What is the role of innovation and in which way can innovation be a driver for the corporate success of a firm in the competitive arena(s) and in the societal domains? What are the resources available for the long-term success and survival of a company? Together with the well-known financial capital, are natural and social capital key assets for a business? And, finally, what are stakeholder relationships and why are they crucial in business activities?
The aim of the course is to address all these (and, for sure, some more) questions to provide a clear, introductory picture of what a business is and why its management is so important.
