Obiettivi Formativi

Knowledge and understanding:
The integrated course provides students with tools to support rational decision-making in supply chain and transportation management. Students will understand: (a) the structure and complexity of modern supply chains and transportation systems, (b) the main challenges in network design, transport planning, inventory management, demand forecasting, and aggregate planning, (c) the role of qualitative, quantitative, and IT tools—including optimization models—in logistics and transportation decisions, (d) the environmental and social implications of logistics and transport operations.

Applied knowledge and understanding:
Through examples, exercises, and case studies, students will acquire the ability to apply decision-making tools to real or simulated problems in logistics and transportation. They will develop and implement spreadsheet and optimization models, interpret results, and propose cost-effective, service-oriented solutions in multidisciplinary contexts.

Autonomy of judgment:
Students will be able to evaluate which analytical and modelling tools are most suitable for specific logistics and transportation problems. They will develop the ability to critically assess results and their implications, both in terms of economic performance and systemic impact.

Communication skills:
Students will learn to clearly explain logistics and transportation solutions—using appropriate terminology—to both expert and non-expert audiences. They will be able to communicate the effectiveness and consequences of proposed strategies in a precise and structured way.

Ability to learn:
Students will be exposed to a problem-based learning approach that fosters the ability to independently analyze new problems, select appropriate methods, and pursue innovative and sustainable solutions through autonomous and lifelong learning.
