Centro per lo studio dei difetti primitivi del sistema immune: immunodeficienze e immunodisregolazione

Congenital defects of immunity constitute a very large group of conditions, mainly on a genetic basis, which involve susceptibility to infections, development of autoimmune or inflammatory diseases that often appear in childhood that can arise in adulthood. Diagnosis is based on immunological, biochemical and genetic investigations aimed at defining the causes of the disease. Available therapies include hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as well as immunoglobulin and immunoregulatory drugs. The goal of the research group is to improve the effectiveness and availability of therapies for children with congenital errors of immunity.
