Public law and new technologies

The impact of new technologies (from biotechnology to new ICT systems) on fundamental rights and freedoms has both positive and expansive consequences for the latter (extending and diversifying opportunities) such as limiting and negative effects (exposing them to new and different risks). The protection of personal data, the protection of the digital identity, self-determination and the fundamental principle of human dignity are the main aspects of a public nature involved as well as the new regulatory techniques made necessary by technological evolution and the related implications in terms of rule of law.
