Born in Brescia (Italy) in 1966. He has received the "laurea" degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Brescia in 1991 and a master in Information Technology from the Cefriel research institute of Milan. Independent consultant in a research project founded by CNR (Italian National Research Institute) in 1992/1993. Assistant professor of computer science at the Department of Electronics for Automation of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Brescia since 1993. From 2000 to 2006 he has served as an associate professor of computer science in the same Faculty. Since 2006 he serves as a full professor of computer science in the same Faculty. He is author of more than 130 scientific papers concerning the following main topics: knowledge-based systems for diagnosis, architectures of autonomous software agents, reasoning under uncertainty, argumentation theory. Ha is also author of a patented system and of a registered software program. He has been active in several research projects founded by CNR (Italian National Research Institute), MIUR (Italian Ministry of University) and EU. He has been responsible of the unit of Brescia of AgentLink, the european network of excellence for agent technology. He has served as program chair of the conference COMMA 2016 (Computational Models of Argument) and since 2016 serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Argument & Computation.
