Professor of Hydraulic Structures and of Riverbasin monitoring and restoration at the University of Brescia.

In 1990 he graduated cum laude in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, where he obtained in 1994 a PhD in Hydraulic Engineering. He studied at the Institute of Hydrology (UK) and at the University of Washington. He is author of over 85 publications refereed in WoS or Scopus and of over 280 publications overall.
His main field of interest is water engineering, hydrology, cryosphere, climate change impact on water resources. He studied criteria for the design of flood retention basins and coupled hydro-meteorological models for flood forecasting.
He is chairman of the Technical Committee "Climate Change Adaptation" of IAHR-Int. Assoc. of Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research. He is co-editor of the book Climate and Hydrology of Mountain Areas, edited by J.Wiley.
He was Principal Investigator for the University of Brescia in research projects as:
