Born in Brescia, on December 6, 1970 Since 1/11/99 Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of the Università degli Studi di Brescia
DEGREES Ph.D. in Energy Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano, 2000 Laurea in Mechanical Engineering at the Università degli Studi di Brescia, 1995
TEACHING EXPERIENCE Laboratory recitations on the use of CFD code Fluent, from 1998 to 10 as part of the courses on Applied Termo-fluid-dynamics V.O. and Fluid Dynamics. In charge of the recitations for the courses on Fundamentals of Thermal Sciences, since 1998. In charge of the courses on Fundamentals of Thermal Sciences within several degrees, from 2000 to 2010. In charge of the courses on Fundamentals of Thermal Sciences within the degree in Architecture and Building Engineering, since 2009. In charge of the courses on Applied Thermal Sciences within the degree in Labor safety and environmental protection, since 2004.
SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY During the doctoral studies and immediately after, the activity has focused on two-phase thermo-fluid-dynamics (numerical study of the solidification of binary alloys), single-phase thermo-fluid-dynamics (theoretical and numerical study of systems of industrial interest), and heat transfer (development of methodologies for the in situ measurement of thermal properties of building walls and of radiative properties of reflecting surfaces). Since 2010 the main research topics are: numerical and experimental study of the heat exchange between chimneys and wooden roofs in relation to fire hazard; study of improved biomass cookstoves for developing countries through the research center CeTAmb; study of thermal storage tanks for district heating networks; study of innovative and sustainable solutions for the insulation of the walls of buildings, also in a perspective of circular economy and/or through the use of metamaterials.
