Andrea Locatelli was born in Seriate (Bergamo, Italy) on July 3rd, 1977.
He received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Electronic Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Brescia in 2001 and 2005, respectively.
He has been carrying out his research activity at the Department of Information Engineering since 2002, within the Electromagnetic Fields and Photonics Group.
In 2008 he became Assistant Professor in the field of Electrical Engineering, and at the end of 2016 he was selected as Associate Professor in Electromagnetic Fields.
He has authored or co-authored more than 140 papers published on international journals and conference proceedings, by receiving more than 580 citations with an h-index equal to 15 (ISI Web of Science, April 2017).
He is a member of IEEE (Photonics Society and Power & Energy Society), OSA, EuMA, CNIT, CNISM, INO, INFN.
He is a reviewer for IEEE, OSA, and IOP journals, and for national research projects funded by the Italian Ministry for Education (MIUR).
His main research interests include:
- Plasmonics and optical antennas.
- Graphene-based photonic devices.
- Nonlinear optics.
- Microwaves and antennas.
- Computational electromagnetism.
- Smart Cities and Smart Communities.
