Short biography:
Andrea Locatelli was born in Seriate (Bergamo, Italy) on July 3rd, 1977. He received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Electronic Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Brescia in 2001 and 2005, respectively.
He has been carrying out his research activity at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Brescia since 2002, within the Electrical Engineering research group. Since 2024 he has been Full Professor in the scientific disciplinary sector IIET-01/A (Electrical Engineering). Since 2025 he has been Coordinator of the Ph.D. Programme in Information Engineering.
He has authored or co-authored more than 190 papers published in international journals and conference proceedings, receiving more than 3,400 citations with an h-index of 30 (Google Scholar, June 2026).
He is a member of IEEE, Optica, EuMA, CNIT, INO and INFN. He regularly serves as reviewer for journals published by IEEE and Optica, and for national research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), including the PRIN programme.
His main research interests include metamaterials and metasurfaces, photonic crystals, nonlinear optics, computational electromagnetics, antennas, and advanced materials.
