SCALA Barbara

Associate Professor of Architectural Restoration at the University of Brescia and member of the SIRA scientific society, she has long dealt with seismic problems of historic buildings in the Garda area, in particular dealing with the case of the city of Salò (BS) in the study of urban planning aspects and historic seismic building techniques, identifying forms of local seismic culture.
In recent years he has deepened the application of HBIM, specifically studying technical and
operative solutions for project and restoration site management in historical architecture, activating specific conventions with protection bodies (Superintendence of the Aosta Valley) for operative experimentation in particular in monuments of the Roman city.
He has participated in numerous calls for funding from banking foundations (Fondazione Cariplo) for the study of construction techniques in mountain architecture in the Brescia valleys, drafting "Guidelines" for restoration and programmed conservation of rural architecture, adopted as operational tools by the local Mountain Communities.
At the University of Brescia he teaches the course Architectural restoration and conservation, the international degree course in Civil and Environment Engineering and a module in the History of building techniques course of the degree course in Building Engineering-Architecture. Since 2020, she has been a lecturer at the HBIM master's degree course at the Politecnico di Milano, Mantova branch for HBIM management processes in historical heritage.
She is author of more than one hundred publications, in journals conference proceedings and monographs.
From 1998 to 2019 she worked exclusively in the field of architectural restoration.
