Associate Professor in Materials Science and Technology; research activity on: Mechanics of polymeric materials, Rheology of polymeric materials, Polymer processing
Mechanics of polymeric materials: development of fracture mechanics testing methodologies for the determination of fracture resistance parameters under quasi-static and high-rate (impact) loads; analysis of mechanical failure phenomena; study of large deformation behaviour; research of structure-property relationships in micro- and nano-composites.
Polymer processing: research of relationships between processing conditions, micro-structural characteristics and mechanical properties in (i) components manufactured by injection or micro-injection moulding, (ii) films obtained by film blowing; analysis and optimization of compounding processes.
Rheology of polymeric materials: study of rheological behaviour under shear and elongational flow at high strain rates; analysis of instability phenomena in capillary flows (“melt fracture”); research of structure-property relationships in micro- and nano-filled polymer melts.
