Curriculum Vitae

Andrea Avanzini is Associate Professor at the University of Brescia - Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. He is a member of Machine Design Group, lecturing courses of Design with Advanced Materials and Structural Biomechanics.
His research activity is focused fatigue and cyclic behavior of polymers, composites and materials for Additive Manufacturing, structural analysis for the design of industrial components and biomedical devices, FEM simulation of cardiovascular procedures and mechanics of soft materials and tissues.
He authored about 53 scientific publications on the topics of composites materials damage, cyclic strength and mechanical behavior of advanced polymeric materials for ultra-high pressure sealing applications, structural behavior of biomedical devices and of mechanical components made of elastomeric materials, computational simulation of cardio-surgery procedures. He was involved in research programs funded by national public institutions and major industrial companies. Prior to his current academic position he was employed at R&D department of Lucchini Group, working on research programs on wheel and axles for railway applications (1998-2000), and at TRW Italia Mechanical Gear Design Center (2001-2003), working on projects for automotive and chassis systems.
