VUK Elena

Elena Vuk was born in Gorizia in 1962. She graduated in Mathematics "cum laude" at the University of Ferrara in 1986. From 1991 to 2006 she was researcher of Mathematical Physics at the University of Brescia, from 1.11.2006 associate professor of Mathematical Physics in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Brescia.
She worked in several fields of continuum mechanics and thermodynamics: viscoelastic materials, electromagnetic fields, variational principles, evolution problems for materials with fading memory. At present, she is dealing with:
a) modeling of extensible viscoelastic and thermoviscoelastic beams and of exstensible elastic suspension bridges, longtime behavior of solutions to integro-differential equations arising from relative evolution problems (existence of absorbing sets and global attractors);
b) modeling of phase transitions with hysteresis and free energies representation.
She was member of the unit of Brescia in the research project "Mathematical Methods in Materials Science" supported by MIUR-PRIN 1998-2000-2002, and in the research project "Mathematical Models and Methods in Continuum Physics" supported by MIUR-PRIN 2005.
