Curriculum Vitae

Degree in Mathematics at the University of Pavia on 13.10.1978.
Researcher in Numerical Analysis at the University of Pavia since 1.8.1980.
Associate Professor at the University of Trento since 29.9.1987, moved to the University of Pavia on 1.11.1990.
Full professor of Numerical Analysis at the University of Rome, La Sapienza since 1.11.1996, moved to the University of Brescia on 1.11.1997.
Head of the department "Dipartimento di Matematica" since 01/11/2007 to 31/10/2012.
Coordinator of a research unit for the grants COFIN 2001, COFIN 2003, PRIN 2004, PRIN 2006 and PRIN2008; coordinator of local research grants. Supervisor of two post-doc positions.
My scientific interests regard the approximation by finite elements of partial differential equations.
- finite element approximation of fluid-structure interaction systems;
- approximation of eigenproblems arising in different fields; error estimates and convergence of the adptive finite element method;
- evolution problem in moving domains;
- domain decomposition methods for hyperbolic systems, for transport equations and for advection dominated advetcion-diffusion problems;
- some error estimates for mixed finite elements applied to elliptic second order problems and to the Mindlin-Reissner model for plates of moderate thickness.
Author of more than 50 papers published in international journals. I presented a communication within several national and international conferences, some of them invited. I organized sessions during some international conferences and in 2006 the CIME summer course "Mixed Finite Elements, Compatibility Conditions, and Applications".
I was visiting professor at Centro de Matematica e Applicacoes Fundamentais, Lisbona, "IMA Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications", Minneapolis, USA, and "Department of Mathematics", University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Member of the Editorial Board of CAMWA and CAS and referee for international journals.
